In the framework of the cultural activities of the Center for Planning and Architectural Studies, and in recognition to mutual cooperation with the Ministry of Scientific Research, The Academy of Scientific Research and Technology has announced the opening for applying for Nile Awards and The State Appreciation and Encouragement Awards for Institutions and Individuals in 2016, One of these awards isthe Award of Prof / Abdel Baki Ibrahim in the field ofArchitecture and Urban planning. the value of the award is (Ten Thousand Egyptian pounds), the award had been established in 2006 to commemorate Dr. Abdel Baki Mohammed Ibrahim, CPAS Founder

The Egyptian TV interviewed the construction supervision team ofKonayyesePublicMarket one ofCPAS projects. The project was assigned to CPAS at the beginning of 2015 by Minister of Urban Renewal and Informal Settlements as part of the state policy of developing the informal markets all over the government.The project consists of repetitive metal units of about one floor height with land Area of 1500m2.

"Urban Harmony Organization-UHO" held a seminar under the title of " UHO Starts Activation of an Endowment project to face the chaos of advertising posters ". The Seminar hosted a group of specialists & university professors, including Dr. Mohammed Abdel Baki Ibrahim.The seminar reviewed the most important problems in the way of placing advertisements and also put forward solutions for the visual pollution caused by the chaos of this issue in the Egyptian streets. It was agreed to start by district of Heliopolis as a pilot Project to activate this committee in the district of Heliopolis.

3/4/2016 CPAS was assigned by the “Egyptian Arab Land Bank-EALB “to prepare complete design, tender documents, and construction supervision for its new branch in Sohag.
23/3/2016 CPAS was assigned for construction supervision of 54 residential buildings, With the total number of 1296 housing units. The area of each units ranges from 110 m2 to 130m2

CPAS was assigned to prepare the detailed urban planning for Meet-Ghamr & Aga rural areas, in the framework of the state policy to reduce informal settlements, according to the approved Strategic Master plans. The project consists of 63 villages in Daqahlia Governorate with a total area of 4578 0.4 acres.

3/2016 CPAS was assigned by KarmSolar ” to prepare the engineering structural design for the “SaiL Hotel “extension, Marsa Alam, Red sea governorate. The project consists of extension of the main hotel building. The building is made of carrier stone walls and woody ceilings with area of 950 m 2 and three floors (ground, first and second floor) with height of 10m.

The Egyptian Prime Minister opened the new medical Annex of AL-Agouza police hospital, one of Center for Planning and Architectural Studies Projects, as CPAS designed and supervised over constructing the project.

The opening ceremony began with displaying a documentary film of the aspects of modernization and development in the new Annex of the hospital, the modern techniques and new systems that were used. The new Annex consists of 27 outpatient clinics, units of laboratory examination & X-ray, pharmacies, cardiac research department, diagnostic department , surgical theater, catheter intensive care department (4- beds), heart intensive care department (7- beds), teeth center with capacity of "9" units (diagnostic and surgical), operations department of  "2" rooms (capsule) for open-heart surgery and brain & nerves operations theater (capsule), cafeteria, Pharmacy, maintenance area, and (110) inpatient bed

CPAS has complete the supervision over construction of “The Investment Authority Administrative area“in Nasr City, the project was completely designed by CPAS .The project consisted of two phases (area A) which includes administrative building – electric chamber – HVAC Chamber – Ground water tank – fuel tank, with total area of 25,100 m2 and (area B) which includes free zone administrative building – entrepreneurship building – mosque – nursery, with a total area of 20,700 m2. The construction cost of  the project is 213 million LE  and it started on 10/2010

A delegation of number of activists and leaders of human rights organizations visited the 15th of May’s prison in response to an invitation from the human rights sector from the Ministry of Interior to determine the health and living conditions inside the prison.

15th of May’s prison is considered one of CPAS  recent projects which has been new opened as Central prison to the Cairo Security Directorate. It accommodates 4 thousand of cooped up, and now resides 3020 of them.

Hafez Abo Seeda- Head of the Egyptian Organization for Human Rights ,Alaa Shalaby – General Secretary of the Arab Organization for Human Rights, Dalia Zyada , Hazem Monier , Mahmoud Badwy and others have praised that  the prison is designed in a modern style in order to ensure an appropriate level of decent living and health care. The delegation have surveyed the prison’s kitchen which also is modern style designed to provide healthy food for prisoners. The prison also includes an administrative section, supervision room, Chief Prosecutor‘s office and layers’office.
Buildings were checked by the delegation and they interviewed a number of prisoners.

Dr. Laila Iskandar, Minister of Urban Development and Slums, witnessed signing  a contract for preparing architectural designs and tender documents for developing buildings facades in four unplanned areas in the governorates of Cairo and Giza, including areas Manshiyat Naser, Ezbet Khairallah, Abu Qatada area, Al-Bahr AlAatham area between the Ministry and Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, which in return assigned CPAS for this project .

Dr. Mohammad Abdel Baki -  CPAS Chairman- attended the ceremony of Home EG Company sponsored by Abd El-Aziz el Salab. The ceremony was held at the Four Seasons Hotel and more than 250 consultant and engineers for the purpose of viewing all what is new in the field of engineering consultancy.

1/6/2014 The Minister of Transportation Dr. Ibrahim El-Demiry inaugurated the woks of maintenance and development at Nasr City Club on 1/6/2014 in the presence of Mr. Hamdy Ahmed El-Wakad – Club General Manager- and Dr. Mohammad Abdel Baki - CPAS Chairman- ( Club consultant ).
The time fram for the maintenance and development works is 6 months and the estimated costs of these works 2 million Egyptian pounds.
The maintenance and development works include:
1- Redesigning the fountain garden and sitting areas, installing a new fountain, and designing new floors consisting of moszeko tiles for basements and basilion and Interlock.
2- Redeveloping tennis playgrounds through plastic strips to define playground lines.
3- Tennis services building through implementing new flooring to the compartment stadiums.
4- Maintenance of the Amphi exposed theatre and wooden sheds.

CPAS was honored to be shortlisted among 14 International Consortiums to purchase the RFP of the Suez Canal Regional Development Project. The shortlisted consortiums were chosen from 46 consortiums according to a standardized evaluation criteria.
The total area of the project is 76 thousand square kilometers and total population 2.7 million people.
The project includes the development of West and East Port Said, El-Arish, the development of the economic zone of the northwest Gulf of Suez, Ain Sokhna Port and Adabieh Port.

CPAS was assigned by Rowad Dahab for Tourism Development Co. to review the working drawings, tender documents and infrastructure networks for the “Comprehensive Tourism Development Plan located between the towns of Dahab and Nuweiba Sinai Governorate”. The project which was designed by another consulting office covers an area of 965 acres divided into four sectors in South Sinai.

CPAS was assigned by Misr El Kheir Foundation to prepare the architectural design and working drawings for a Student's Hostel and an Orphanage building in the Third District - New Cairo. The project hosts the extension of the Student's Hostel on a plot area 1440 m2 and an Orphanage building on a plot area 3785 m2 (ground floor and 2 typical floors) , with a cost estimation of 10 million pounds (L.E) .

As part of the activities of the First Conference of the International Association for Simulate Performance of Buildings in Egypt -  Towards a Built and Sustainable  Green  Environment - Cairo 23, June 24, 2013, Eng.  Dalia Mohamed Seif El Din – CPAS structural engineer - presented a paper entitled “Simulate Performance of Buildings Using Light Bricks in Construction", and Arch.  Shaima Gad Hassanein – in collaboration with CPAS HVAC department - presented  a paper entitled "Simulate Performance of Buildings Using Natural  Ventilation in a Contemporary Style".

Maj. Gen. Sayed Abdel Fattah Hrahor- North Sinai Governor-  held an extended meeting with CPAS  consultants and experts responsible for the “ Fishing Port Development Project in North Sinai Governorate” . The study aims at establishing a new fishing port in Arish. The meeting was attended Dr. Adel Katamesh,  Deputy Governor , and General Sameh Issa, Secretary-General of Governorate, Major General Medhat Saleh, Assistant Secretary General, as well as the leaders of Governorate.
 Hrahor said ,  that the new  fishing port is the first large  development project that is held on the land of Governorate in order to develop fisheries, noting that it is held with funding from USAID in the context of financing a number of developmental projects including the harbor village of fishermen and factories to manufacture agricultural   products  to the Governorate and establish a wholesale market that  absorbs the governorate  products , and that the total amount allocated for that is $ 50 million dollars.
He explained that the new port goal is to help  the development of fishing Industry, especially as the size of the fish production currently is not commensurate with the potential of the Governorate, located on the shore of the Mediterranean Sea  with a length  that extends for about 200 kilometers, and the presence of Lake Bardawil characterized by its purity and free of any contamination.
Dr. / Abdul Mohsen Mongi - the project manager, said that CPAS is finalizing the feasibility, economic, social and environmental studies ,as well as the master plan and marine design of the port . The study team had to analyze and assess the current status of the existing port in order to assess the current situation of the fishing industry and assess the constraints and opportunities, and evaluate the alternatives of the location of the new fishing port.

In the context of the social activities of CPAS, a trip was organized to the Ain ??Sukhna  on Thursday, 25.04.2013 to Creative Jet Beach Resort. CPAS staff and their families spent a wonderful day on El Sukhna  beach, and left with a promise to organize similar activities in the coming months.

CPAS was invited to participate in the “ENGINEEREX CAIRO 2013 Exhibition” for recruiting engineers. It was held at the Intercontinental Hotel - City Stars on Saturday 18.05.2013 and CPAS participated through Human Resources unit and was able to communicate with a large number of engineers and managers interested in hiring and receive their C.V. The Exhibit provided a very good opportunity for HR unit to meet qualified cadres and complete CPAS database.

9/5/2013 CPAS was assigned by Lands Projects Implementation Agency, Ministry of Interior to prepare the working drawings and construction supervision for a special Residential Building in Zamalek. The building consists of basement, ground floor and 4 typical floors on a plot area 1350 m2 with cost estimate 14 million pounds (L.E)

A public consultation meeting was held by CPAS at Al Arish on 8/4/2013 for discussing the Construction of a new fishing port. The meeting was under the auspices of Major Al-Said Abdel Fatah Harour –Governor of North Sinai and was managed by Dr. Mohammad Abdel Baki Ibrahim –Chairman of CPAS, as well as the working team members: Dr. Abd El- Mohssen Al-Mongy- Chief of party, Dr. Moustafa Saleh – Environmental Impact Assessment team leader, Dr. Anwar El-Naqib – Feasibility Study team leader, Dr. Magdy Saleh – Fisheries Consultant.

Proposals and alternatives for the fishing port project were introduced to the attendants, the society representatives public and executive leaders and the tribal chiefs to receive their views and opinions about the project, in order to create new fishing industry in Sinai Governorate.

CPAS has completed the preliminary handing over for the administrative building of the General Authority for Investment GAFI. It is known that CPAS has been assigned to carry out the architectural design and Tender documents followed by execution supervision for the implementation of the main administrative building in the Free Zone which includes all the Authority departments on a plot area 32,800m2 with a height of five floors and a total built up area 30,677m2, in addition to services buildings. Contract value for the project is 180 million Egyptian pounds.

An honoring ceremony has been held by CPAS on the occasion of the completion of preparing working drawings and tender documents for two grand projects in KSA: “MARAFIQ Corporate Administrative Building and other Auxiliary Buildings for Jubail and Yanboa" and” New Headquarters for General Authority of Civil Aviation, Jeddah ". All engineers in different disciplines who participated in the projects attended the ceremony.

CPAS was assigned consecutively for the third year by Etisalat Egypt for preparing tender documents and execution supervision for 100 new branches in a number of governorates in Egypt. This as a following step to their assignment to CPAS in the previous years to cover the same task for 108 branches.

CPAS was assigned by Misr El Kheir Foundation to conduct a study on using natural ventilation and underground cooling system in the design of “one Classroom Model” which will be Constructed in villages and remote areas in Egypt.
The classroom area is 57.5 m2 annexed with toilets occupying 10m2. Estimated cost of the project is 350 thousand pounds.

CPAS was assigned by the Kuwaiti Office for Charity Projects for preparing tender documents and execution supervision for their project "Center for Reciting Quran, Library and water fountain in Luxor, upper Egypt. The building consists of a ground floor of a plot area 428.28 m2 and first floor of area 180.06m2. Estimated cost for the project is 1.5 million Egyptian pounds.

Major Al-Said Abdel Fatah Harour –Governor of North Sinai- meet with delegation from Center of Planning and Architectural Studies in his meeting room in the Governorate's council.
Dr. Adel Moustafa Qamash –Deputy Governor, Dr. Mohammad Abdel Baki Ibrahim – CPAS Chairman, and Eng. Mohammad Abdel Rahman – Projects Manager in USAID- attended the meeting.

The Governor emphasized that the USAID contracted with the Consultant "Center of Planning and Architectural Studies" for carrying out the economical and environmental feasibility studies in addition to preparing preliminary design for the project "construction of a new fishing port in Al Arish". He also added that a time line plan has been prepared for conducting feasibility study of the project "construction of a new fishing port or development of the present port" in six months and final results of the study to be submitted by beginning of August, in order to serve fishing activity in North Sinai Governorate.

CPAS was assigned by Lands Projects Implementation Agency, Ministry of Interior for preparing Tender Documents and execution supervision for the construction of phase 1 of their project "Residential Towers on Naser Camp Land".  Each tower consists of basement floor, ground floor and 11 typical floors on a plot area 1295m2.  Each floor consists of 5 residential apartments ( 4 units of area 140m2 and one of area 175m2).

Mr. Ahmed Gamal El-Din, Minister of Interior, laid the foundation stone for the new Police Authority Hospital at Abbasia – Cairo; CPAS is responsible for the design, working Drawings & execution supervision for the project .
The Hospital (with a 466 bed capacity) consists of main building (Basement floor, Ground floor, 13 Typical floors) and service buildings on a plot area 9000m2 with a total built up area 37020m2 .

Dr. Mohammad Abdel Baki - CPAS Chairman – was invited to participate in the “Skills for Green Jobs workshop in Egypt : The Case of Composting and Renewable Energy organized by the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) at Al-Azhar Park , Cairo on 19 November, 2012.
The Workshop aims at initiating a process for developing a vision, strategy and action plan for composting and renewable energy, with a particular focus on skills policies and programmes to support sector growth.

Sahar Gamal CPAS Projects Manager were invited to Arbil, Iraqi city to manage the construction work for Ashti City - Kurdistan, a residential city which consists of 4,000 housing units on an area of 480 feddans, in addition to the preparation of a training program to upgrade the Iraqi cadres working in the project.

6/2012 Dr. Khaled Mahmud Mahmud Mahmud - assistant professor at the Faculty of Engineering - University of Al-Azhar, won the Prize of late Dr. Abdel Baki Ibrahim in the field of Architecture and Urban Planning for the amount of (ten thousand pounds). The Prize is awarded by the President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology granting Nile awards and State Incentive awards in science and advanced science and technology, organizations and individuals prizes for 2011

Hussein Sabour in the activities of Arab-Turkish Industrial Cooperation Conference (2nd Session) and its accompanying exhibition in Benghazi, Libya on 3-4 June, 2012. The aim of the conference was to discuss investment opportunities and participate in the reconstruction of Libya.

The Awards Council of the Kuwait Science progress institution choose Dr. Mohamed Abdel Baki Ibrahim to be a member in the committee in charge of evaluating the presented nominations for the Kuwait Prize 2010 in The Arabic and Islamic Scientific Heritage (Architecture).The amount of the prize is Three Thousand kD. equivalent to One Hundred Thousand USD.

CPAS has prepared a financial studies on the savings of the structural skeleton and foundations cost , mortar plaster and electricity consumption as a reason of using light weight sand bricks instead of clay bricks for the construction of two hotel and administrative towers – Falcon Towers-Maadi-Cairo, and the study showed that incase of using Light weight sand bricks (500kg/m3) instead of Clay bricks (1400kg/m3) in walls decrease loads on columns by 23% as well as it reduces the thickness of slabs  and the quantity of iron bar used for reinforcing slabs and foundation and reduces number of  piles, which leads to reduction in the total cost of the structural skeleton of the two towers by 12% . in the mean time the result of the study showed that percentage of saving in thermal loads acquired as a result of external factors of the residential tower is 27% and percentage of saving in thermal loads acquired as a result of external factors of the hotel is 23%

Also The General Union of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce new Headquarters was chosen as one of the 10 most important projects designed through 2009. This is according to what was published in the "Al Benaa Al Araby" (The Arab Building) magazine, the 18th issue published on February 2010, in their third list for the most important 100 in the Building and construction sector in Egypt and the Middle East for the year 2009. The General Union of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce Headquarters was designed on 9800 m² area, its estimated cost is EGP 29 million, and is currently under construction with CPAS supervision in New Cairo.

Delta Company for Sand Bricks contracted with CPAS to make analytical financial studies of the advantages of using light sand bricks against the use of clay bricks, and this is to save the costs of the concrete structure, foundations, adhesion mortar and consumption of electricity. The factory was built on a 150,000m2 area and is being redesigned for future expansion .CPAS was also awarded to develop 15 feddans as an extension for existing factory to build a steel structure factory with total floor area 36000 m2and another RC structure factory with total floor area 280,000 m2.

The Kuwaiti Institute of National Education has signed a contract with CPAS for the preparation of special studies concerning the asset valuation of one of Cairo's schools in order to conduct a feasibility study for investment in the school. This study includes the evaluation of land, property, structures, tools and equipment owned by the school. The study will also convey the asset's legal and financial status as well as the evaluation of the educational standard and the school name.

Commissioning stage has started on Wednesday 9/5/2007 for the Central Jailhouse of Asyout city. The committee on behalf of the Ministry of Interior responsible for commissioning has praised the high technical standards of project execution.

CPAS signed a contract with the General Committee for Industrial Development for the development of industrial areas in Beheira, Alexandria and Matrooh Governorates. CPAS will be responsible for carrying out studies, development policies and plans. CPAS was chosen through a bid between specialized consultant offices.

The work on the project of the development of Al-Hofouf Historical City in Al-Hasa – KSA carried out by the Ministry of Municipality and Village Affairs – Al-Hasa municipality. CPAS will be executing this project in cooperation with the office of Dr. Abdel Rahman Al-Rabeea located in Damam – KSA. A team of highly qualified and experienced Egyptian consultants specialized in several areas of development will participate in the project.

Dr. Mohammed Abdel Baki, CPAS chairman, as the personal consultant of his excellency the general secretary of  the Islamic Cities and Towns Organization Eng. Omar Abdallah Kady, will be participating in the 11th conference for the organization, and the 9th international conference, titled "The effect of communications and information technologies on municipal services development: towards an E-Government" and the exhibition of "Communication and information technologies and the progress of Islamic cities and Capital municipalities". The conference will be held in the Turkish capital Ankara, 18th – 20th of June 2007.

Raising the efficiency of the swimming pool boilers and air cooling the covered sport hall will be also part of the renovations.

The architectural magazine "Ru'ya" (Vision) held a cultural conference in Sakkia Culture Center on Tuesday 9th of January 2007 on "Architectural publications and its effect on the elevation of society's culture". Dr. Mohammed Abdel Baki had moderated the meeting and showcased a research letter about the Egyptian history throughout the past century.

Dr. Mohammed Abdel Baki CPAS chairman was invited by the Aga-Khan trust for Islamic architecture and the Kuwaiti Engineers Society to participate in the Middle Eastern Architecture Conference and the accompanying exhibition held on the 3rd and 4th of December 2006 in the State of Kuwait. Dr. Mohammed Abdel Baki showcased a research letter about the Egyptian history throughout the past century.

Dr. Mohammed Abdel Baki CPAS chairman was nominated to be the Architectural Consultant for the Ain Shams Hospitals and the General Coordinator of its Consultants. Ongoing is a number of new and renovation projects including:

  • Construction of a new pediatrics hospital, oncology (cancer treatment), and educational center (1st stage).
  • Vertical extension of the old pediatrics hospital in Demerdash Hospital.
  • Vertical extension of pediatrics specialized clinics building.
  • Construction of the buildings of the central kitchen, laundry, Natural medicine, and central care.
  • Design of the road accident and neurosurgery hospital in Quattamiya.
  • Extension of day-time psychiatric clinics.
  • Renovation of gynecology and obstetrics operation rooms

Alexandria library is currently electronically scanning all old issues of the "Alam Al Binaa" magazine, totaling 216 issues, indexing and classifying them to display some of the older issues on the CPAS website.

Construction of the Nada project, which consists of six – twelve story apartment buildings, has begun. The project is located in southern maadi with a cost of 70 million pounds. This phase is a part of a larger project consisting of 19 apartment buildings. The owner is the Ministry of Interior.
